Ana Eloisa Soto-Canino

Our Director loves the artist's life. Spending long days and nights in our teaching studio, she also thrills in doing absolutely nothing, and better yet if doing nothing outdoors. Her favorite things include saltwater, dogs, sailing, and dance, as well as airplanes; zebra stripes, and backyard astronomy. Favorite places include the cliffs of Cabo Rojo, any ancient salt-pan she can trek across; and most any place in Australia. She'd like to toss the microwave oven and live on mofongo, Portuguese olives and Tuscan figs. Ana often rereads Theucydedes' passage on the 'Battle of the Great Bay' and Melville's Moby Dick in its entirety. As instructor, she most loves to study and teach the technical craft traditions (long-standing theories, techniques and methods) that lie behind drawing and painting.
