Power Up Your Portfolio
(suggested ages: teens and adults)

Create and/or refine your art portfolio -whether you are submitting your portfolio for college entrance, graduate work or the job market. For your winning portfolio to be complete, powerful and attractive, you must learn useful skills regarding what an expert portfolio requires. The end of the 16-hour workshop features a faculty critique.

  • Offered: Two consecutive Fridays (July 18th and July 25th)
  • Hours: 9am-5pm

Introduction to Graphic Design
(suggested age: teens)

This course covers basic graphic design concepts. The students will be introduced to the principles of two-dimensional design, and learn how to apply these principles to the needs of business and industry. Students will gain experience in solving basic problems of graphic design and advertising, and develop a professional portfolio of their own work.

  • Offered: Monday-Thursday (July 14th-17th)
  • Hours: 9am-2pm (with a one hour working lunch)

Abstract Painting
(suggested ages: teens and adults)

Explore abstract painting and drawing in a technically sophisticated manner. Learn to use various mediums and tools as you explore the principles of 20th century American Abstract Expressionism.

  • Offered: Monday-Thursday (July 21st-July 24th)
  • Hours: 9am-2pm (with a one hour working lunch)
  • Instructor: Ardra Spector
  • Course Fee: $200/ 20-hour course

Art Around the World
(suggested ages: 6-9)

Travel around the world through art! Explore a variety of cultures and art techniques using many different mediums.

  • Offered: Monday - Thursday (July 15-July 24)
  • Hours: 10am-12pm

  • Course Fee: $160/ 16-hour course

Pointillism in Theory and Practice
(suggested ages: teens to adults)

Learn about pointillist techniques throughout the ages and around the world. Produce your pointillist work in acrylic on canvas, along with several small studies.

  • Offered: Tuesdays and Thursdays across two consecutive weeks

Fundamentals of Ceramics and Ceramic Sculpture:

Ceramic with Acrylic Wash

Go back in time to learn about the roots of ceramics and ceramic sculpture! Discover and use many of the techniques of the ancient Greeks and Romans! This coures explores the core fundamentals of the ceramic and ceramic sculpture tradition through self-hardening clay. Hand-building techniques such as pinch, coil and slab will be taught with a special emphasis on sculptural elements such as relief. Learn to use various tools and techniques as you travel back to the future in time!

Introduction to Painting with Acrylics:
(Age group to be determined by student demand)

Join us for this technically informative course. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the tools, techniques and confidence imperative to painting with acrylics. Understand the historical foundations of acrylic painting, a relatively "modern" medium.

  • Offered: Monday-Thursday (July 15th-July 24th)
  • Hours: 3pm-5pm

  • Course Fee: $160/ 16-hour course

In the Footsteps Of Leonardo: Draw Em', Build Em' and Fly Em'!
(suggested ages: 8-13)

Fly Away!Like the Old Master Leonardo Da Vinci, design and draw your own airplane, cut your model and then build it! We'll take it one step further when you join us at Donaldson Park for an official launching of our flying machines!


  • Offered: Saturday July 26 (Full day- morning in the studio and late afternoon in the Park)
  • Hours: 10am-6pm
  • Instructors: Ana Soto-Canino and Jose Soto-Canino
  • Course Fee: $100 (all materials are included in price)
